The Langtang Valley Trek is one of the most beautiful trekking circuits in Nepal, and the perfect time to visit is during spring. From late March to May, wildflowers and rhododendrons bloom in the valley. These gorgeous flowers make this trek stand out from other trekking circuits in Nepal. Summers can be warm below the Lama Hotel, but higher up, it can be chilly and there is a higher chance of rain.
Day 1
Day 1 of the Langtang Valley Trek begins with a full-day drive to Syabru Besi, where the trek starts with a short stop at the Lama Hotel. The trek then continues to Langtang village and Kyanjin Gompa, an important monastery for the Langtang people.
Day 2
Day two of the Langtang Valley Trek is a beautiful and challenging hike up Langtang Glacier. This route is a great choice for those who want to get in the mountains and enjoy the breathtaking views. There are a number of guesthouses along the way and several newly built hotels. Many of these accommodations have hot showers, wifi, and other amenities. There are also numerous other activities that can keep you busy during the trek.
Day 3
The Langtang Valley Trek takes you on a beautiful route through a thriving Tamang Indigenous culture. The landscape is spectacular, and you’ll meet local villagers with warm spirits and Buddhist beliefs. You’ll also get a chance to see some of their typical villages.
Day 4
You’ll be climbing up through the Langtang Lirung trail, occasionally peeking through the trees. The trail eventually reaches Ghora Tabela, 3,000 meters above sea level. This temporary settlement is used by herders who bring their livestock to graze in the high pastures during summer. You may even catch a glimpse of a yak or two.
Day 5
The final day of your Langtang Valley trek is a day of reflection. The region is known for its unpredictable weather and high-altitude. At 4773 meters, the Kyanjin Ri is the highest peak in the region. As the altitude increases, oxygen concentration decreases and it is important to prepare for altitude sickness. You should avoid overstretching your body and drink plenty of water.
Day 6
Day 6 of the Langtang Valley Trek is the most challenging day on the trek. You’ll need to keep in mind that the trek is over 5,000m above sea level, so it’s important to be prepared for any type of weather. The altitude makes the trek somewhat risky, but if you’re trekking with a guide, you’ll be safe. It’s important to avoid wild snags and be aware of your surroundings, but the trail is clearly marked.
Day 7
On Day 7 of the Langtang Valley Trek, you’ll start your journey from Syabrubesi, the gateway to the Langtang Valley and the Trishuli River. You’ll pass Sherpa villages and Tamang communities on your way up the valley. Your journey will include a stop in Langtang village, the Kyanjin Gompa, and beautiful views of the Langtang glacier.
Day 8
The long trek on Day 8 of the Langtang Trek ends at the picturesque village of Mundu. The Langtang Ri is framed by the valley’s wooded slopes and is often used by local yack herders. As you descend into Mundu, you will be greeted by an old family that has lived in the valley for generations. You’ll spend the evening at the Lama Hotel, where you’ll likely enjoy a farewell party.
Day 9
After breakfast, you’ll head out for a morning hike, following a well-maintained trail alongside the river. You’ll pass through two valleys, with abundant water at one point. You’ll also cross over a bridge. As you ascend, the scenery becomes more varied, with a few glimpses of snow-capped peaks tucked between the trees.
Day 10
After the trek has finished, explorers will be rewarded with a view of the Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, Yala Peak, and Tserko Ri, the highest point in the Langtang region. Aside from this spectacular view, trekkers will also witness snow lands shrubs and highland trees. It is possible to spot wildlife, including Pandas, on this trek.
